National theater unveils this year's performances to be staged in renovated theater

Up to 56 performances, including 22 new hits, to appear

The new season will 메이저사이트추천 off on Sept. 1 with "Sound of Millennium," by the National Orchestra of Korea, a traditional music orchestra, which will play three new songs with the 60-member National Chorus of Korea and Ahn Sook-seon, a master of pansori, a traditional narrative vocal music genre.
For its first performance, the National Changgeuk Company will perform "The Show: Heungbo," a new interpretation of "Heungboga," one of the five remaining original pansori plays, from Sept. 15 to 21.
The National Dance Company of Korea will also present new performances, including, "Five," which aims to modernize "Cheoyongmu," a Silla-era royal court mask dance based on the theory of five elements and the principle of yin and yang, at Daloreum Theater, from Sept. 2 to 5.

In addition to the performances by the three art troupes throughout the year, performances by up to eight national and private art companies and overseas art troupes will be staged at Haeoreum Grand Theater.
"Blooming Again" will be performed by the Korean Symphony Orchestra, where the orchestra will play contemporary works of Tchaikovsky, Berlioz, Stravinsky and Kim Texu on Sept. 2. The Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra, a Korean traditional instrument orchestra based in Gyeonggi Province, will play original songs reflecting the characteristics of traditional music particularly well, in the show titled "The Sound of Change" on Sept. 25.
The National Chorus of Korea will perform, "Handel, Messiah," on Dec. 3, while the Korean National Ballet will present a gala show from Feb. 25 to 27 and a new work from June 8 to 11. The Korea National Opera and Universal Ballet will present "Prince Hodong" on March 11 and 12 and "The Love of Chunhyang" on March 18, 19 and 20.
Two overseas troupes will also present works that may enable audiences to think about humanity in our rapidly changing contemporary world amid the COVID-19 pandemic. "Ultraworld," a drama performance production by the German theatre organization Volksbuhne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Berlin, will be staged on Nov. 25, 26 and 27, asking questions about the meaning of life from the perspective of a human being with a digital avatar in a virtual reality game.
"Sopro," directed and written by Portuguese director and playwright Tiago Rodrigues, will delve into the meaning of occupation through the perspective of a prompter who is always behind the stage, next June 17, 18 and 19. The show was delayed from last year to 2022 due to the pandemic.
The NTOK is also planning to stream overseas performances at the theater through its "NT Live" program. The program will include: Stephen Sondheim's musical "Follies" by the National Theatre in London (Oct. 2, 6 and 7), Edmond Rostand's play, "Cyrano de Bergerac" by the same theater (Oct. 2, 3 and 6), Sophocles' "Oedipus" by International Theater Amsterdam (Oct. 8 and 9) and the French play "Les Fourberies de Scapin" by Comedie Francais (Oct. 9 and 10).
