Actor Lee Ji-hoon, who recently played the lead in the period drama, "River Where the Moon Rises," has been accused of spreading false information about his former agency, G-Tree Creative.

The agency confirmed, Wednesday, that it has filed a complaint with Namyangju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province, accusing the 메이저토토 of spreading malicious rumors.

The actor said in interviews with local news outlets in April that the agency failed to pay him after he appeared in three TV series.

G-Tree Creative, which represents actors like Choi Jin-hyuk and Lim Ju-eun, told the local news outlet, News1, that it paid the actor for two of the series.

"Lee and the agency worked on three pieces together, and of those, we cleared his payments for two series. For the other one, we couldn't give it to him because we still haven't received the payment from the production company," it said, adding that the actor's comment misled people to think he was not being paid at all. "His interview about not getting paid defamed our company's reputation."

Lee responded to the complaint, saying there was no misinformation in his comment. "Lee's interview meant that he was 'not paid on time' so he never stated false information," the actor's lawyer said.

Lee also said: "I wasn't paid so I'll prove to the police whether it was spreading false rumors or not."

Lee had been in a legal dispute with G-Tree Creative to terminate his contract with the agency in July last year. The actor claimed that the company drove his managers to quit by neglecting to pay them proper wages, while some of the agency's officials verbally insulted him.

He filed for an injunction to invalidate his existing contract, accusing the agency of "failing to share detailed transactions of his payments and the agency's commissions, and to provide his payments on time."

The Seoul Central District Court has ruled to temporarily suspend the actor's contract, saying "it is clear that the trust between the two parties has been broken to carry out duties of management and actor."

The actor has filed for litigation to permanently dissolve his contract terms with the agency. Last month, he founded his own management company, SSOM Entertainment.

Lee debuted with a supporting role in KBS's hit franchise series "School 2013" in 2012 and has starred in various TV series, including "Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung" and "Woman of 9.9 Billion." He also appeared recently in the popular reality show "I Live Alone."
